Following the nationwide safety stand-down of all Scouting range and target activities, local councils were directed to complete a thorough review and certification process, as directed by Scouting America. This included confirming our safety standards, training protocols, and programs align with Scouting America policies.
We have completed this review for council and district events, and each district hosting range events this summer has certified compliance with Scouting policies. Therefore, range and target activities can RESUME at Montana Council events.
We strongly encourage volunteers engaging in range and target activities in Scouting to thoroughly review Scouting America’s Range and Target Activities manual, as well as complete the Range S.A.F.E.ty training available on my.scouting.org to ensure compliance with Scouting America policies and procedures.
Any questions can be directed to Montana Council’s Range and Target Activities Committee Chair, Coby Dawson, at coby.dawson.mtcouncilrata@gmail.com or Committee Adviser, Ashley Jerome, at ashley.jerome@scouting.org.
