
Dr. John Rowley, Eagle Scout from Troop 1941, Columbia Falls, was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year. Dr. Rowley earned his Eagle in 2001 and went on to earn his PHD at Johns Hopkins University. He is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Carrol College, where he has taught for the past 10 years.
As part of this prestigious and highly competitive program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Dr. Rowley will conduct research and teach at the University of Rwanda in Kigali.
Dr. Rowley’s Fulbright award supports collaborative international work in both education and scientific research. His proposed project focuses on the fundamental chemical mechanisms of carbon–carbon bond formation, and he will be teaching courses in physical chemistry. Through this academic and cultural exchange, Dr. Rowley will contribute to the Fulbright program’s mission of fostering mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries.
Continuing the tradition of academic excellence, Professor Rowley joins the 13 other Carrol College faculty who have received Fulbright awards since 1987.
