The Montana Council is excited to welcome John “Jack” Winters to our field staff as the second District Executive in Missoula. Jack will work alongside Senior District Executive Grace Friend to deliver the Scouting program to families within the Mullan Trail District.
Jack’s Scouting journey began in the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana in first grade and continued after his family moved to Colorado, where he earned his Eagle Scout in 2015.
He attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, New York. His connection to Montana brought him back to Missoula, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Montana.
Jack comes to the Montana Council from Blackfoot Communications Cooperative, where he provided support to the Co-Op’s rural residential members.
For the past two years, he has also volunteered with Mullan Trail District as District Membership Chair, helping units welcome new youth and volunteers so more families can experience the joy of Scouting in Western Montana.
In his free time, Jack can be found rafting the rivers around Missoula, skiing at local ski areas, and exploring Montana’s outdoors with his partner and their dog.
