Welcome John Byk To Team 315

District Executive, Hi-Line and Lewis & Clark Districts

The Montana Council is pleased to welcome John Byk as the new District Executive serving the Hi-Line and Lewis and Clark Districts.

John is a retired educator who holds a Master’s degree in English and remains a licensed Montana teacher, specializing in English and Spanish for grades 5–12. Over the course of his career, he has taught in public schools in Michigan, Montana, and New Mexico, and has also taught English at universities in the United States, Japan, and Thailand.

John is also an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He served four years of active duty and five years in the reserves on the Great Lakes.

Since moving to Great Falls in 2019—originally, as he jokes, to learn how to properly fly fish—John has remained active in the community. He has worked as an academic tutor at Great Falls College MSU, served as a youth home staff member at Missouri River Youth Group Home, and, most recently, worked as a political canvasser and data research collector, interacting closely with residents throughout the community.

John loves to travel and learn languages. He has spent months abroad recently in South America and Europe, particularly war-torn Ukraine, where he has worked as an ordained minister with his Ukrainian wife as an evangelist through Christian Global Outreach.

An active member of the Great Falls Church of Christ, John is passionate about investing in the next generation and helping young people grow into responsible citizens who love God and country. While working at the youth home, he frequently took the boys on fishing trips, invited them to church if they wished to attend, and spent evenings volunteering his time to help them with their schoolwork.

Welcome John! We’re glad to have you on Team 315!
