In just two short weeks, we will gather for one of the most important events of our Scouting year – our Montana Council Convention.
While there is much to celebrate, I want to highlight something that may be the most valuable part of the entire weekend: training.
We say it often because it’s true – well-trained leaders deliver the best Scouting experiences. And when young people have great experiences, they stay. They grow. They thrive.
That’s why this year, we are doubling down on our commitment to you. On Saturday, May 25th, in the afternoon, we are offering Leader-Specific Training – completely free of charge. No barriers. No excuses. Just show up.
These sessions will be led by first-class instructors – experienced Scouters who have been in your shoes and know what it takes to run effective, engaging, and sustainable units. This is practical, real-world training that you can take home and implement immediately.
Whether you are brand new or a seasoned leader, there is truly something for everyone. From planning strong meetings and outdoor programs to building leadership within your unit, these sessions are designed to set you—and your Scouts—up for success.
I want you to know this:
The Montana Council is committed to doing everything we can to support you.
We recognize that our volunteers are the backbone of this movement. Your time, your energy, and your belief in Scouting are what make everything possible. This training opportunity is one more way we can invest in you—because when you succeed, our Scouts succeed.
So I’ll leave you with a simple ask:
Join us.
Make the time.
Invest in yourself. It may just be the best thing you ever do to strengthen your unit and change the lives of the young people you serve.
I look forward to seeing you there.
