Richardson Logistics Center Ribbon Cutting

New 5000-Square-Foot Facility Is Hub For Maintenance Operations At K-M Scout Ranch

Family and friends of Blake Richardson gathered with Montana Council staff and board members to cut the ribbon on the new Richardson Logistics Center at K-M Scout Ranch north of Lewistown.

For Blake, who passed away in 2019, Scouting was a cornerstone of his life of service. He began as a Cub Scout and advanced through Troop 2 in Missoula, earning the Eagle Scout Rank and the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Blake became a dedicated adult volunteer with the Montana Council and Troop 10 in Billings. He played a key role in developing Scouting Programs and enhancing the K-M Scout Ranch, a place he deeply cherished. For his outstanding service, Blake received the Silver Beaver Award.

The Richardson Logistics Center, a 5000-square-foot facility that acts as the hub for maintenance operations at K-M Scout Ranch, stands as a lasting tribute to his impact on Scouting.

The building features a heated workshop to facilitate year-round maintenance on vehicles and equipment. It has a full complement of tools and stock supplies, allowing for quick repairs to be made around the property. Secure storage with commercial warehouse-style shelving provides room to store nearly 200 tents, over 500 cot pads, and ample space for the program equipment needed to support camp operations.

A loading dock allows for safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks. The on-site office for the Ranger acts as a planning space close to the rest of the operation and a convenient location for visitors to check in when camp is not in session.

“This is more than a building. It’s a symbol of growth, of foresight, and of the incredible teamwork that defines Scouting,” said Jory Dellinger, Scout Executive & CEO. “It allows us to scale our operations, welcome more Scouts, and respond swiftly in times of need. It’s a cornerstone of our commitment to excellence.”

The Montana Council thanks the donors, staff, and Richardson family for bringing this impressive and needed building to life, supporting the Scouts and families who will attend K-M for years to come.
