Ben Wineman is the statewide evening TV news anchor for NonStop Local, located in Missoula, Montana. He was named the 2024 and 2025 Montana Broadcaster of the Year by the Montana Broadcasters Association and has won an Edward R. Murrow award for his journalism.
Ben began his broadcasting career in 2016 in Missoula after graduating with honors from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University. He started as a sports anchor, covering local high school sports and the Montana Grizzlies, and eventually moved to the news desk in 2018. His journalism franchise “Help Me Ben” has helped over 300 Montanans find answers to their questions and solutions to their problems over the last five years.
Ben grew up in the Seattle, Washington area, and joined Boy Scout Troop 573 in 2006 after completing his Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts.
During his scouting career, as a member of the famed Kokopelli Patrol, he traveled to Philmont, Sea Base, and multiple summer camps all over the Pacific Northwest. His mother was the Troop 573 advancement chair, and his father followed along on every hike and camping trip. Over his time as a scout, Ben tallied 120 nights camped, 600 miles hiked, paddled, and biked, and performed over 200 service hours, earning him the Troop 573 “Journey Award”. Ben became an Eagle Scout in November, 2011.
Ben lives in Missoula with his wife, Ashley, and their two children, Quinn (3) and Luke (1). He loves the Griz, the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle Seahawks, and anything having to do with history. He is also a PB&J sandwich enthusiast.
As District Chair, Ben will help guide the district’s volunteer leadership, strengthen programs, and ensure Scouting continues to grow and serve youth and families throughout our communities.
