Why Attend Annual Convention

Three Important Words: Fellowship, Education & Celebration

If you haven’t yet attended one of the Montana Council’s Annual Conventions, let me share something we’re not keeping a secret — they’re a blast.

It’s not always easy to connect in person with fellow Scouters from across the council. Convention gives us the chance to come together, celebrate Scouting’s successes, reflect on challenges, and strengthen the camaraderie that keeps our movement strong.

ANNUAL CONVENTION

Delta Hotels Helena Colonial
April 24 – 26, 2026

This year marks the 14th annual Scouter Appreciation Night! The evening of revelry is our opportunity to celebrate the outstanding volunteers who make our program great.

We highlight districts for their growth and community impact, and most importantly, the individuals who make Scouting happen.

This year’s theme is Hollywood Nights. Step into the spotlight for an evening inspired by the glamour of the silver screen — with great company, great energy, and a celebration worthy of a premiere.

Beyond the festivities, Convention also offers a wide range of educational sessions designed to help you grow your skills, knowledge, and expertise as a leader.

This year’s seminar topics include:

  • Town Hall with Glen Pounder, Scouting America’s Chief Safeguarding Officer – Yes! The guy from your SYT Video!
  • Range and Target Activities
  • Scoutbook Plus Tips and Tricks
  • The Mystery of Commissioner Service
  • Supporting Scouts with Special Needs
  • How Scouting is Funded
  • And more!

You can explore the full list of seminars on the Convention webpage.

New this year! Leader Position-Specific Training.
This is an opportunity to complete the required position training. Check out the courses.

And for the third year in a row, we’ll be hosting the Outdoor Expo, showcasing Scouting essentials and hands-on expertise. This year’s featured topics include Backpacking Tech and Tricks, Dutch Oven Cookery, onX Maps, and more.

Finally, on Saturday night, we will recognize the 2025 class of Silver Beaver recipients. The Silver Beaver is among the highest honors in the Montana Council, recognizing volunteers whose service has made a lasting difference in the lives of youth. Those recognized represent just a glimpse of the extraordinary dedication found across our council.

These are only a few of the reasons we hope you will attend.

If we had to summarize the Convention in three words, they would be:
Fellowship. Education. Celebration.

Register before April 1, 2026, and save with Early Bird Fees.

We hope to see you at Convention!
